Risk Assessment for the Seismic protection Of industRial facilities
Research teams
This work is multidisciplinary and interdepartmental. Four Research Teams are collaborating in the proposed consortium. The key role of each group is as follows:
Team 1 (Host Institution): National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Department of Structural Engineering. Management of the project, modelling of imperfections, performance-based engineering and seismic risk assessment framework for industrial installations, identification of damage modes, engineering demand parameters and their correlation.
Team 2: University of Thessaly (UTh), Mechanical Engineering Dept. Modelling and analysis of liquid storage tanks, industrial pressure vessels, piping and their support systems, identification of damage modes, definition of engineering demand parameters and their correlation, development of simplified models, development of guidelines and benchmark applications for earthquake protection of industrial installations.
Team 3: University of Patras (UPa), Engineering Seismology Group. Generation of earthquake time history records which incorporate the seismic waves diffracted in basin into the stochastic modelling of ground motions, the spatial correlation and the scaling law of source spectra based on data from the Greek area seismic risk assessment framework.
Team 4: Institute of Engineering Seismology and Earthquake Engineering (ITSAK). Performance-based earthquake engineering framework for industrial installations, vulnerability analysis framework using static pushover methods, direct evaluation of seismic risk.
The project coordinator will devote 40% of his time in RASOR project. Team Leaders will devote 25% of their time. Team Members and Visiting Researchers from abroad will devote 15% of their time in the RASOR project.
